Provide your expertise - Become an EQAS expert
IFA evaluators are renowned experts for the study programmes submitted for review, they are appointed by the EQAS Food Accreditation Commission. They participate as independent experts from academia or professional practice, who make their judgements as individuals and independently. Auditors do therefore not represent interests of their institutions or act as agents for particular organizations.
The role of the expert evaluator is to act as a consultant and produce a recommendation on the evaluation to the EQAS commission. It will involve the assessment of a self-evaluation report from the applying institution together with an audit visit following the EQAS guidelines and the filling of a recommendation report.

Our expert auditors are, as a rule, teachers in academia or experts from professional practice, i.e. from private and public companies. Student experts are - where possible - part of the auditing team. They have gained first experience in higher education.
EQAS-Food’s principles for the nomination of auditors from academia
These auditors should possess:
- proven specialist expertise
- proven activity in one of the disciplines of Food Science and Technology
- desirable: accreditation or evaluation experience, didactic competences in higher education, international experience, experience of institution of higher education administration
- additionally, participation in training opportunities on accreditation issues.
EQAS-Food’s principles for the nomination of auditors from industry
These auditors should possess:
- proven specialist expertise
- experience of employing graduates of higher education food studies degree programmes in the workplace (in a human resources capacity)
- desirable: accreditation or evaluation experience, international experience, experience of institution of higher education administration additionally, participation in training opportunities on accreditation issues.
